Allspice (Jamaican Pepper, Pimenta):
All Spice berries are said to have been so named in the 17th century by the British because its flavour and aroma is reminiscent of so many spices bound into one:
cinnamon
cloves
pepper
nutmeg
It was Christopher Columbus who discovered the Piment. He mistakenly thought it was pepper, and that's why it called Piment.

Allspice has a complex aroma. They taste like several spices at the same time.
